The Trial
One of the most defining scenes of the story and one of the most important pieces ever written, the trial encapsulates the divide in Maycomb county between the blacks and white, but also between the forward thinkers and the racists.
Dolphus Raymond
Dolphus Raymond is a white man who lives in the black community. As a result of this decision, he is marginalised from the white community and gossip around his decision is rampant in Maycomb county.
Attempted Lynch
One of the most important parts of the novel is the part where a group of white men attempt to break Tom Robinson out of jail in order to lynch him in chapter XV

The Ewells
The Ewells are the outcasts of the white community. The rest of the community ostracise them from Maycomb because of the way they live and behave, but don't totally marginalise them because of the colour of their skin.
Maycomb County
Maycomb county is a community set in the southern states of America, specifically Alabama. It's presented to us, as an audience, as a tired town with not much fun for young people, especially Scout and Jem.
Arthur "Boo" Radley
Boo Radley is a metaphorical mockingbird within the text, To Kill A Mockingbird. He is a mysterious character that is unknown to Maycomb county, however is constantly gossiped about. As a result, he is ostracised from his community and blamed for things that goes wrong in the community.
Scout Finch
The story of To Kill A Mockingbird is told from Scout's point of view and therefore her ideas and innocence is brought to the forefront throughout the entire text.
Atticus Finch
Atticus Finch is one of the main characters in the text. He is seen as a hero within the text and helps Maycomb County understand it's problems, even if they don't overcome them.
